Two projects with the same total area can require different quantities of beams, posts, motors and drainage parts, so a generic square-metre price is only a rough screening figure.
Why there is no reliable universal pergola price
A pergola quotation is a bill of materials attached to a particular layout. A 24 m² rectangle can be one bay, two connected bays or several smaller modules. Those arrangements do not use the same number of posts, perimeter beams, motors or wiring components. The site may also require wall mounting, freestanding posts, side enclosures or a finish outside the standard catalogue colours.
For this reason, a useful factory quotation should state the model, module dimensions, quantity, included components, optional accessories, finish assumptions and commercial basis. A number without those boundaries is difficult to compare.

Is price per square metre useful?
It can help with early budgeting only when the roof type, module size, profile system and inclusions are clearly stated. It should not replace a project-specific quotation.
Does a larger project always cost less per square metre?
Not necessarily. Repeated standard modules may improve production efficiency, but extra motors, posts, drainage routes, screens and complex connections can offset that benefit.
Should freight be included in the first quotation?
At minimum, the quotation should make the delivery basis explicit. A destination and approximate packing volume are needed before landed-cost comparisons become meaningful.
