Ask for the whole connection specification

Do not substitute washers, screws or brackets solely because the visible size matches. A replacement also needs to meet the mechanical and environmental requirements of the connection. Have the supplier or responsible designer approve substitutions before installation.

Review places where moisture can remain

Include concealed interfaces and accessible drainage points in the review. Ask how the assembly avoids persistent water retention and how it will be inspected or cleaned. Coastal salt and other contamination should be described in the project brief rather than treated as an afterthought.
